Serie II: bleu et rouge (Maeght 269). Original color lithograph, 1961. 1200 impressions for "Miró 1959-1960," published by the Pierre Matisse Gallery in 1961, of which ours is one. There were also 75 deluxe portfolios containing this lithograph. In addition, there were also 30 signed & numbered impressions on paper with large margins. Image size: 311x468mm. Series II: Rouge (Maeght 289). Original color lithograph, 1961. 30 signed and numbered impressions. Ours is a proof annotated H.C. and comes directly from Galerie Maeght, the publisher of this beautiful and elegant lithograph. Image size: 450x600mm. Serie I: bleu sur vert et rouge (M. 282). Original color lithograph, 1961. 30 signed & numbered impressions. This is one of a series of works made using different combinations of stones in different states and colors. A rare and beautiful print from an important series of prints in which Miró laid the foundations for the important body of lithographs to come in the '60s and 70s. Image size: 665x1010mm. Album 19, n. 11 (Maeght 322). Original color lithograph, 1961. 75 signed & numbered impressions for Album 19 plus 15 impressions signed and annotated i/XV-XV/XV. In 1961, Miró assembled some of his favorite images, reworked them, and published them in this portfolio. To them he added a number of newly-drawn images, of which this is one. Image size: 510x660mm. Joan Miró (Spanish, 1893-1983), L'anneau / The Ring (M. 305). Original color lithograph, 1961. 90 signed and numbered impressions on Rives BFK. Light mat burn in margins, not affecting image. A beautiful and uncommon image of Miró's abstract mode, here constructed from two of the lithographs in the 1961 Derrière le Miroir devoted to Miró's recent paintings (see below M. 301 and M. 302). The photograph, illuminated only by the ceiling spotlights at night in an otherwise dark space, is flatter than the true image.
