Original etching, 1928. 225 pencil-signed impressions (175 on Van Gelder and 50 onjapon); there were also 305 portfolios for Reincarnations of Père Ubu (1935) containing suites of the etcings on Arches and Rives papers. Illustrated Georges Rouault: Paintings and Prints (Museum of Modern Art, 1947). Image size: 212x307mm. Price: $975.
Christ on the Cross. Wood engraving by Georges Aubert for Rouault's 1938 Cirque de l'etoile filant / Circus of the Shooting Star, published by Ambroise Vollard in an edition of 250. Rouault drew the image on the woodblock for Aubert to cut and supervised the production of the print. Ours is a numbered proof in an edition of 100 without text apart from the book. Image size: 121x196mm. Price: $450.
